Ah, it's been a long
day at work and you come home to flop into your favorite recliner,
turn on the TV and start watching a program. You adjust the
volume level to just the right point and then you realize that this
program just doesn't suit your taste after the stressful day you had
and so you change channels...BAM!! Your volume level jumps off the
scale with this new channel!
Does the scenarios
describe above sound familiar? How many times have you
encountered a similar situation? Well, OCTiV took this into
consideration and developed the new Terk VR-1 Volume Regulator. OCTiV is the first company to solve the
"too loud - too soft" problem endemic to audio delivery. Home
entertainment, digital music libraries, conference calls, professional
broadcast and the hearing impaired are all markets currently using
OCTiV's Volume Logic technology. And so it is with the Terk
VR-1.

Performance You Can Count On
Whether you are
using the VR-1 for home entertainment or commercial use, it does the
job ever time. In our testing, we setup a A/V projector,
surround sound system, and monitor for our commercial usage part of
our evaluation. We were running the CD player of the sound
system, the projector for sound from the TV and our amplifier for PA.
No matter what we switched to from the master control, the volume
remained consistent with no variance. In the home environment we
tested it in, the same exact performance without a hitch in the
slightest.

What's The VR-1 All About

|
Terk's VR-1 TV volume regulator lets you enjoy
clean, consistent sound while channel-surfing or watching your
favorite shows. Its advanced digital signal processing responds within
just thousandths of a second to reduce volume spikes or boost
abnormally quiet scenes.
The VR-1 connects in-line between your TV and
virtually any other type of home audio component via standard RCA
audio connections. Once you've set the volume you want, just leave it
alone — operation is fully automatic. A bypass button is provided if
you prefer to hear a show's full dynamic range. This handy device even
has built-in noise reduction technology to clean up audible "hiss"
from noisy TV signals.
|
Note: To use the VR-1 with your
TV, you need to either connect a component like a VCR or receiver to
your TV's A/V input or run line-level audio from your TV to a
separate receiver or audio system, with the VR-1 connected in-line.

1)
General and Simple Overview: The Terk
VR-1 TV Volume Regulator provides effective volume matching for
television audio, DVDs, movies and more. It gives you consistent
audio levels when surfing from channel to channel, program to
program, program to commercial, or between quiet and loud scenes of
a movie. In addition to TV, you can use the VR-1 for other audio
components that use RCA connectors, such as CD players or MP3
players, to even the audio levels between discs or MP3 tracks.
2) Digital Signal
Processing - What's It do?:
The Terk VR-1 utilizes advanced digital signal processing for
instant automatic audio adjustment, responding in .002 seconds to
provide balanced audio levels. Noise Reduction technology minimizes
the "hiss" that's present in some audio sources.
3) Automatic Gain Control:
A multi-band automatic gain control adjusts bass and treble
signals separately to improve dialog. This can make a dramatic
impact in outdoor events being televised, etc.
4) Connections/Controls:
The VR-1 is easy to install. It has a stereo RCA input (for source
audio) and a stereo RCA output (to feed to the TV audio input). The
only control is a two-way slide switch for selecting "On" or
"Bypass". The only downside is that the device you are
connecting to must have line level audio connections.
5) Specifications:
- Input Impedance:
20K ohms
Output Impedance:
600 ohms
Frequency Response:
20Hz-20kHz
Normalization:
30dB
