Jackson Guitars Gain
Editor's Choice
by James G.W. Fisher |
| Jackson Guitars are as
American as Apple Pie is their own unique way. Although they
are built off-continent, they are an important staple for a
large majority of musical artists nationwide.
Jackson is quality at it's finest
degree when it comes to electric guitars. Without question
Jackson is a household word in the music industry that many
company's use as a standard to compare against. Because of
the immense number and variety of guitars available for review, we
chose to focus upon the 2001 DXMG, a rock hard guitar that proves
it's worth without question. |
 |
Originally, the DXMG's were made in India but to the best of our
knowledge are now made in Japan. That is a very important
factor that determines for many as to the quality of a product and
the faith of the user in it's performance. The 2001 DXMG one
volume, one tone and a three way selector switch.
The neck and bridge are humbucker which you know you can rely
upon. It has a JT500 bridge. In my personal opinion it
is very similar to a Floyd, but I am sure there are some people
who would disagree.
JT500 bridge which is similar to a Floyd. Good tuners, and locking
nut. The neck is sleek and quite easy to access all frets.
That ensures better play and less fatigue. An added feature which
I find quite appealing is the Rosewood fingerboard with shark fin
inlays. Overall it is an instrument of phenomenal design that
allows a music artist to perform longer and with much less fatigue
with the truly great design of the DXMG with the musician's
concerns in mind.In the
sound department it is quite excellent although the EMG-HZ pickups
could be better. All things considered, the sound is still
absolutely awesome! The pickups handle distortion and clean
settings nicely. A nice factor is that the pickups can be replaced
with the pickups of your own choice with minimal effort. In
querying a number of other DXMG owners, we quickly discovered that
vitually everyone is doing enjoying the incredible performance of
their DXMG without question and no negative comments mentioned.
The DXMG was designed for live
playing without question.! That fact is all too
obvious. The design in it's structure is one which can take
a serious beating without concern it will fail. The hardware
is top of the line in craftsmanship and aesthetic image!

| On the side of the web
site, and their customer service, Jackson is seriously awesome!
They have a magnificent web site, although the majority is built
with Flash which does not allow a user to copy an image of a
guitar and use it in a presentation. The web site has an
excellent bulletin board where you can share info with other
players. The warranty is a limited-lifetime deal, and they pay for
shipping if it's needed.
In regard to the Editor's Choice
and why Jackson was chosen. Our staff have gone across the
floors of NAMM multiple times evaluating everything in sight.
Several of our staff have been playing in bands for years now.
They have all had a variety of guitars such as Fender, etc. but
the bottom line was the best satisfaction was from Jackson
Guitars. The Editor's Choice award was well earned and
deserved. |
